The Gold Standard in Medical Imaging

When you or a family member is referred to an imaging center for a CT scan, MRI or mammogram, how can you know the facility is operating with safety and quality as its priority? Positive patient reviews can give you a good idea of how your experience will be, but what about more technical things such as their adherence to radiation safety standards or the quality of the equipment?

One easy way to know that a facility is operating with quality and safety as the priority is by checking for accreditation from the American College of Radiology, which is often referred to as the “gold standard” in medical imaging.

What is ACR Accreditation?

The American College of Radiology (ACR) is a non-profit organization that facilitates quality, safety, research, innovation, and education in the field of radiology. They have developed a certification process that focuses on safety and quality, allowing only the most qualified imaging centers and physicians to become certified. Accreditation ensures patients are receiving the highest quality and safest care.

ACR accreditation is a voluntary process, which means that not every imaging center is certified. There is a thorough application process, recurring inspections, and strict safety standards that adjust as the industry changes. When you see the ACR seal, here are a few things you can expect from the imaging center:

  • Up-to-date equipment
  • Strict radiation dose standards
  • Well-trained technologists and radiologists

At Clermont Radiology, providing patients with the highest quality care is our priority. We are proud to display our ACR accreditations in MRI, CT, and Mammography!
